"A great photograph is a full expression of what one feels about what is being photographed in the deepest sense, and is, thereby a true expression of what one feels about life in its entirety." Ansel Adams
Welcome to k. Norwood Portraiture! I'm so glad that you are taking time out of your busy day to stop by and see why so many people are using k. Norwood Portraiture for their fine art and photographic needs. We have been in business for the past 5 and a half years and in 2009 I passed my Professional Photographers certification test and image submission. This is quite an honor because only 3% of working photographers have done so. I am a proud member of Professional Photographers of America (PPA), Texas Professional Photographers Association (TPPA), Wedding &Portrait Photographers International (WPPI), Texas Professional Photographers Association (TPPA) and serve as the President of our local Brazos Valley Professional Photographers Association.
Like so many other avid photographers, I grew up in a family where photography was highly appreciated. My father was in the military and traveled quite a bit. He used to document his trips through the use of his Nikon camera. He probably didn't know it then but he passed that love of photography on to both myself and another sister who knows resides in Dallas. My mother took pictures for Family Services while my father was active duty and taught us how to use her Polaroid camera. In high school I worked with our yearbook staff as a photographer and learned the technical side of the single lens reflex camera-using a light meter, checking for correct exposure and even developing black and white film in the darkroom. It was from this time onward that a camera was always around. After college, I began teaching special needs children and photography took a back seat for a while but as I look back through old photo albums I see where I was beginning to document my teaching career through the use of my various cameras.
For the past 9 years I have been continuing my education in the world of digital photography. It was also in 2009 that my husband Robert became a part of the business. It has been a wonderful experience working alongside my best friend. We attend workshops and training sessions together as often as possible and I believe that has added to our success as a relatively young company. It has been my pleasure to work with some wonderful clients over the past 5 years. My job never gets boring and I always want my clients to feel my enthusiasm for their photo event. Whether it is coaxing a smile out of a reluctant 3 year old, or catching the anxiety of a new bride on her wedding day I love the fact that my clients are allowing me the privilege of joining them in their special moment in time.
